InFocus Gets On the Bus with OETC

InFocus Gets On the Bus with OETC
With a shared vision for the education community InFocus and OETC bring technology to the forefront of the classroom

WILSONVILLE, Ore., November 8, 2006 – For nearly 20 years, InFocus digital projectors have brought lessons to life and captured the attention of students by displaying larger than life digital content in the classroom.  Today, InFocus reaffirmed its commitment to the education market, by partnering with the Organization for Educational Technology & Curriculum (OETC), to bring affordable technology and training to educators.

By incorporating InFocus projectors into the classroom, educators have been able to streamline lesson plans and include photos, charts and video clips to enhance the learning experience. By integrating a visual approach, teachers are creating memorable lessons for students that keep them actively engaged and knowledgeable about the content. With the ability to project materials directly from any computer, teachers can stay focused on the class and draft lectures, lessons or seminars – without the hassle of whiteboards and overhead laminations.

Through this strategic partnership, both InFocus and OETC will have the opportunity to bring projectors to all educators who are members of OETC, and ensure they are trained on how to fully utilize the technology. In addition, InFocus will help build awareness in the advancements in educational technology by working closely with educators through OETC conferences, focus groups and tradeshows to address concerns and improve existing technology. OETC members will also be eligible for discounts on InFocus education products.  Items such as InFocus Learn Big projectors allow students to absorb content in a shared, immersive experience while educators are empowered to interact with the class, unencumbered by chalk, markers or wasteful handouts.

Since its inception in 1983, OETC has been recognized as one of the experts in bringing technology to the classroom, which complements InFocus’ longtime goal of providing solutions that apply advanced learning and thinking developments in the classroom.

With deep roots in the Northwest and the national education community, OETC has been instrumental in educating teachers on the benefits of technology within the learning process and modern curriculums.  In partnering with OETC, InFocus will provide invaluable expertise in educational projection, as well as insight into how educational technology is evolving.

“This partnership extends our vision to put technology in the hands of educators and students,” said Kyle Ranson, President and Chief Executive Officer, InFocus. “Our direct involvement with the education community is essential to ensuring educators have access to innovative technology that will engage and inspire students. By partnering with OETC we will support a learning environment that fosters this dynamic and makes learning more meaningful, visual and memorable.”

“We represent over 750 educational institutions across the United States, and are excited to be partnering with InFocus to bring affordable technology and increased benefits to educators,” said Aaron Munter, Executive Director of Organization for Educational Technology & Curriculum, “It is our goal to continue providing classrooms with advanced technology that pushes the standards in education. By leveraging InFocus’ expertise on educational tools available and educating teachers on how to take advantage of the technology, we hope to promote innovative, effective teaching methods”.

As a first step, InFocus and OETC will begin coordinating their efforts at tradeshows and industry conferences to develop new technological strategies and formulating the best opportunities to educate OETC members, ultimately benefiting both educators and students alike.
