InFocus ScreenPlay Projectors Take the Charleston Air Force Base Fitness Center Over the River and Through the Woods

You have probably sat through an aerobics or group exercise class and have been bored to tears staring at the same gym wall. While you would much rather be outside enjoying the outdoors, the winter months make this nearly impossible. The Indoor Cycling Center in the USA, Charleston AFB Fitness Center, has revolutionized exercise with the Blackburn Motivator Interactive DVD Exercise Video System, the first group DVD interactive exercise indoor cycling program.

This unique and interactive class is taught by an instructor who rides in tandem with the on-screen cyclist projected on two 10’ X 12’ wide screens. Mr. Parrish from Charleston Air Force Base explains, “The size and clarity of the images help immerse participants in the scenery. You really feel like you are riding on a trail through the Grand Canyon instead of on a stationary bike in a gym!”

The instructor controls the speed of the video with his or her own speed, and participants work to maintain the same workout level. Watching the scenery around them and keeping up with the screen cyclist and instructor on stage, works to energize and motivate participants. The Indoor Cycling Center at Charleston Air Force Base holds twenty-two indoor cycles, which face two large screens mounted on each side of the instructor with images projected from InFocus ScreenPlay projectors.

“The program provides twenty separate routes totaling more than 3 hours of scenic tours from the Grand Canyon to Paris-Roubaix,” explains Mr. Parrish. “The screen cyclist and instructor work as a way to motivate participants and the scenery works as a distraction from how hard participants are actually working. Getting work-outs around here is a must and with this program, a standard workout is a fun instead of grueling experience!”
