In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, InFocus Corporation is voluntarily recalling about 1,842 projectors and 744 replacement lamp modules for repair. These units contain improper wiring insulation, which could degrade and pose a potential shock or fire hazard to users.

The projectors have been sold directly by InFocus, InFocus authorized dealers and at office equipment retailers since October 2005. The replacement lamp modules have been sold directly by InFocus, InFocus authorized dealers and at office equipment retailers nationwide since November 2005.

Affected units for:

  • InFocus WorkBig LP120 will be within AJNV541A0001 and AJNV551A0301 serial number range.
  • ASKProxima M1 will be within AKUV546A0001 and AKUV547A0268 serial number range.

Note : Some units have already been reworked prior to sale. See below to determine if your unit has been reworked.

Owners of affected projectors or replacement lamp modules should stop using the product until it is repaired. Owners of affected projectors or replacement lamp modules are requested to take the following steps:

STEP 1: Determine if you have an item in the affected group.

  • Find the serial number of your unit.
  • Enter the serial number on the validation tool to determine action to be taken.
  • If replacement lamp was purchased, locate your proof of purchase to determine if date of purchase has been since November 1, 2005.

STEP 2: Request a repair or exchange for projectors or replacement lamps within the affected range or purchase period.

  • To obtain a FREE repair of your product, complete the repair request form (Also referred to as RMA form) as a WARRANTY REPAIR.
  • Select "Upgrade" under Problem Type. Under "problem description" on the Repair Request form, advise whether you "need shipping box" or "have original packaging for return shipment" of your projector. Customers noting "need shipping box" will receive a box for shipment of their projector.
  • A prepaid shipping label will be issued. Estimated turn around time is 15 business days based on ground shipment to and from InFocus.
  • Owners requiring faster service, may select either the STANDARD EXCHANGE or ADVANCED EXCHANGE options. Additional charges exist if selecting ADVANCED EXCHANGE. ADVANCED EXCHANGE charges will be reversed upon receipt of your affected unit.
  • Owners with unopened SP-LAMP-013 replacement lamps need to complete the repair request form as a LAMP REPLACEMENT. Under "problem description" advise whether you "need packaging materials" or "have original shipment box for return shipping" Customers noting "need shipping box" will receive a box for shipment of their replacement lamp. A replacement lamp will be sent to you FREE of charge upon receipt of your returned replacement lamp.
  • Projectors and replacement lamps must be shipped separately. Please complete a repair request form for each item.

STEP 3: Ship your affected projector or replacement lamp to InFocus.

  • Owners attach the shipping label to their boxed projector or replacement lamp and deliver to their local UPS shipping center.
  • The projector will be shipped via ground service to InFocus where it will be repaired under warranty and return shipped to the owner via ground freight for FREE.

STEP 4: Check your repair status of your return shipment

  • Enter the UPS tracking number to track receipt of unit for repair. Unit will show status of received, in repair, and return shipping information.

Note: If you have more than 5 units in the affected serial number series, the please call the customer service at 1-877-398-6086 between 8AM – 5PM PST to get the recall information.

Owners unable to complete the on-line repair form may call 1-877-398-6086 between 8AM – 5PM PST to obtain recall information. This recall is being conducted in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission who will monitor its effectiveness
